Hello Hydrangea!!!!

This I have to say was the most challenging and fulfilling cupcake project thus far. I am so in love with Blue Hydrangeas. My bouquet from my wedding was only Hydrangeas. I love them!!! So when I was contacted to do cupcake bouquets for a shower for a baby boy, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it out. I am super excited about how they turned out. They look amazing if I do say so myself!
They actually look just like my bouquet. Aren't they purrrty?!!

P.S. These puppies gave me the worst arm cramps I've ever experienced in my life. Just thought I'd share that.

Hello there...

Lately I've been neglecting to post pertinent information here, since I've posted it on my Facebook page. Tisk, tisk, tisk, shame on me. Well, a few weeks ago I successfully completed my first attempt at building a cupcake tower/stand/tree thingy. I found a few how tos, but I had to wing it for the most part because I couldn't find the exact supplies. I had big plans to take pics to document the steps, but uh, yeah, that didn't happen. I just kept going and forgot all about the pics. Here's a few pics of the finished product.

Ok, So that's not it. This past weekend I had to build a second cupcakes tree. This time I used much better products, But once again I forgot to document the steps. I definitely think this one came out much better. It may not show in the pictures, but Mama knows. This one was for a Cirque du Soliel themed 30th Birthday party. I also made this cutsie little monogram topper for the cop cupcake. I love it. I think I'll make one for my birthday.

Cupcake-a-saurus Rex

Just a quick post to share my latest cupcake cake. I made Mr. Dino for a three year old little cutie pie's birthday party on Sunday. He was so excited when he saw it!
Those reactions are what make me love what i do.
Have a great day!

Happy New Year!!!!!

So, I totally missed the one year anniversary of starting this blog. Between the holidays and the holiday orders I barely know what today's date is. That's a good thing! I had this whole thing planned out for what I would say and how I would thank my followers on that date, but I missed it.
So here we are on New Year's Day, the perfect time to thank you all for making 2010 such an awesome year. From the cupcakes to the comments I have had so much more success in this first year than I could have ever imagined. So thank you! I wish I could send you all a cupcake right now!

In 2011 my eye is on the prize. The focus is on the storefront. Babycakes Couture Sweets Boutique 2012!!!

At this time of year people make resolutions to be or do better, or to do something they have been putting off for a while. Most often times they don't follow through. This year I'm not making resolutions. I'm making plans. Plans are roadmaps or blueprints for a desired outcome. Make a plan, with simple steps and easy to find landmarks, that should help with keeping you on track through out the year.
This year I plan to come up with new a cupcake flavor every month, and tackle new techniques that I've been wanting to try. I plan to learn and know the business side of things like I know my cupcakes. It's going to be a good year!
What are your New Year's Plans?

A Holiday... Really?

So who knew that today, December 15th was National Cupcake Day? Isn't that awesome? And what's even more awsome is that my super thoughtful hubby just had an inkling that there was such a day, so he Googled it, today, just to find out that today is said day. So funny. He was so proud of himself.  I hadn't seen any posts about this holiday, so I just thought I'd share. Hope you had a great Cupcake day!

I also wanted to Share with you my holiday flavors. I posted them on FB a while back, but I never posted them here. They are as follows~ Ginger- gingerbread cake with egg nog buttercream frosting
Candy Cane- Vanilla cake with peppermint buttercream and The Devil Wears Velvet- red velvet and vanilla cake swriled into one cupcake topped with cream cheese frosting

Here's Candy Cane, I'll post pictures of the other two later.

Quick Post...

I wanted to do a quick post because I am dead tired, but I just had to share this weekend's cupcakeyness. My second go at the cupcake bouquet couldn't have been better, and I tried out a new flower. I also introduced my newest flavor and it went over very well. I am so very proud of them all, hope you like! And just in case I don't get the chance to post again before the holiday, I hope you all have a wonderful family and food filled Thanksgiving! Smooches!

Look What I Found...

A good friend of mine is a Dollar Store Queen, she rocks when it comes to dollar store shopping. The other day she told me that she saw Paula Deen cupcake mix at her favorite dollar spot. We'll you know I headed straight for my nearest Dollar Tree and sure enough, there was Miss Paula Deen on the Dollar store shelf. I was so excited, I grabbed all three flavors! Then I thought what the heck am I doing, Dollar Store or not, I don't do box cake. But it's Paula Deen! That thought instantly took me back to my previous post Famous Cupcakes about Kim Kardashian's box mix; I never did order that mix.
I ended up buying just one box, I figured I would let the kids make cupcakes one weekend using the mix so I wouldn't waste it. All you need is oil, water, and eggs. I'm sure it will in no way compare to anything my Paula would make, but we'll give it a try. I'll let you know how they turn out.
So cute that it even says "From my kitchen to yours"
