Fascinating Find...

WARNING: This post has absolutely nothing to do with cupcakes.

I don't know about you, but I love to watch infomercials and QVC. I watch, but I never buy. Especially those too good to be true products that will make your life easier in some way. If they're so great, why can I get 5 of the for only $19.95? Huh? Explain that. I just don't trust them, and I'm not in the business of wasting my money. One particular product that always catches my attention is those velvety magic hangers that are supposed to give you twice the space in your closet... you know the ones. The sales woman is so believable and it seems like they really do magically give you more space, but how? That's why I never buy.
Well, the other day I was in Ross, and low and behold there they were, in all colors. Except pink :( There was a pack of 20 hangers for $7.99. I picked them up, felt the velvety smoothness, and read the label and put them down. I still didn't believe they would work. I walked around some more and on my way to the register there was another bin filled with more hangers. This time there were smaller packs (10) that were $3.99. I quick grabbed a pack and hurried to the register before I changed my mind. $3.99 was a reasonable waste if they didn't work and a steal if they did, so I bought them. SUPER DUPER STEAL!!! These things are awesome! I used them last night when I put the laundry away. I was amazed by how much less space they took up. How'd they do that? I don't care... all I know is I'm going back for more! And cardigans don't slip off; amazing! Hopefully they will have pink; although, I think I want them all to be the same color. We'll see. And I'll get the black ones to do the hubby's side. Me first though :)
See the difference.... 8 hangers and some of them have 2 items on them. I can't wait to get more!

My newest obsession

My husband always tells me that it's a good thing I never got into drugs because I have a very addictive personality. I often get hooked on a particular thing and I must have it. Whatever it is at that moment actually consumes me until I get it if it's a purchase or until I am literally sickened by the thought of it if it's edible. My current edible obsession is Jelly Belly jelly beans. Now I will admit that I had a preexisting condition, meaning that around Easter I go a little crazy on the Jelly Bellys, but then it goes away until the next year. Well, 2 weeks ago my BSGF (bestest sister girlfriend=BFF) surprised me with a bag out of the blue and unleashed the monster. I have been eating them ever since. My husband left me some under my pillow, and the other night he made a late night run to the CVS for me. It's really bad! I think I'll have to go cold turkey because I don't see this one wearing off.
As far as the purchase obsession... the above is haunting me in my dreams. Isn't she a beaut? This little lady has soooo many tricks up her sleeve, I can't even name them. Now, I am a strictly Kitchen Aid girl and I do love my Pink Penny, but this here Cuisinart  is gonna make me change my religion. I am so in love! I could almost whip out cupcakes in my sleep. Think I could get it for Valentine's Day?

So in my last post I shared a picture of what I am calling Cupcake Truffles. They are essentially the same thing as a cake pop, but for grown ups. They are decadent and sophisticated and I love them! So far I've done them in red velvet with white chocolate, chocolate mint, blondie with chocolate and toffee chips, and my personal fav... coconut rum cake with white chocolate. OMG!!!! That one is ridiculously tasty, if I do say so myself. There are more flavors to come.
I packed these cute little boxes for my coworkers at the day job and the were a hit. I wanted to do something different for them; I always bring them cupcakes. Not that you can get sick of cupcakes, but I just wanted to do something a little different. Lets just say nobody missed the cupcakes. So cupcake truffles will be the first new menu item of 2012!

That's just the beginning of the changes to come for BCC in 2012. New menu items, and a new look are just the start. Can you say Cupcake Makeover?!?!?!?

Happy New Year!!!!

The last few weeks of 2011 found me very busy. The holiday season is now a blur and and my head is already a week in front of me mapping out my first custom orders of 2012. This is something that I try to control, but to no avail, the thoughts and images just keep coming; a gift and a curse.

Looking ahead to 2012, I wish you, my extended Babycakes Couture family, all the happiness in the world. I pray that The Universe supplies you with all that you need to be your best self in the new year.

With that, said here are some pics of my end of the year business. One thing that I am especially proud of is a "pro bono" cake pop arrangement I did for an amazing interior design company here in Philly that was celebrating they're 10th anniversary; Busy Bee Design Company.Check them out.
